I adore all of E.M. and this is a reread. Splendid narrator, setting you right back in the day. Underlying themes still not old fashioned, though history most certainly has steamrolled over the world Forster describes...prophetically, in 1924; showing us how long it takes for rumblings to break into a clap of thumder that will unleash the torrential rains of change. Still, raining, old chum, Forster.
