The sixth novel in Julia Quinn's globally beloved and bestselling Bridgerton Family series, set in Regency times and now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix. Welcome to Francesca's story... In every life there is a turning point. A moment so tremendous, so sharp and breathtaking, that one knows one's life will never be the same. For Michael Stirling, London's most infamous rake, that moment came the first time he laid eyes on Francesca Bridgerton. After a lifetime of chasing women, of smiling slyly as they chased him, of allowing himself to be caught but never permitting his heart to become engaged, he took one look at Francesca Bridgerton and fell so fast and hard into love it was a wonder he managed to remain standing. Unfortunately for Michael, however, Francesca's surname was to remain Bridgerton for only a mere thirty-six hours longer—the occasion of their meeting was, lamentably, a supper celebrating her imminent wedding to his cousin. But that was then . . . Now Michael is the earl and Francesca is free, but still she thinks of him as nothing other than her dear friend and confidant. Michael dares not speak to her of his love . . . until one dangerous night, when she steps innocently into his arms, and passion proves stronger than even the most wicked of secrets... 'Light, pacy and full of feisty heroines' Guardian on the Bridgerton series 'Julia Quinn's Bridgerton books take all of the classic tropes we know and love . . . and gives them a thoroughly modern twist. Prachtig voorgelezen, ik moest alleen even wennen dat een vrouw een mannenstem nadeed. Prachtig verhaal.

It's a nice read, although the story doesn't really surprise that much. It's just simple and romantic. But the narrator really annoyed me. Her impressions of men and especially of a man in an explicit scene is horrible. She sounds like a old horse with a cold when she keeps on grunting "oh my god Franny". It's just... eww.

It was alright in the first half, definitely not the best Bridgerton book but still enjoyable. However, although an explicit scene here and there is usually good, this one contained a bit too many and repetitive ones for my taste. It was the same thing over and over again and at some point I wondered if I was even going to finish this book. The ending was also very weird in my opinion. She was barren all this time and then all of a sudden she gets pregnant twice in a row? It's possible of course but it was just the tiniest bit strange as well as keeping it a secret?? I thought that was just plain weird and a bit rude.I also found it not at all to be a "Bridgerton book" seeing as the family is barely mentioned at all, whereas their appearances are usually the best parts of the book. Still nice to get to know Francesca a bit better, too bad I didn't like her that much.

Not my favorite Bridgeton book if I have to be honest. It all took a long time and the ending was, well not the best. Still enjoyed most of it. Finally we get to know more about her!
