Misschien lollig bedoeld niemendalletje maar ik kon er niks mee. Niet grappig.

Haar schrijfstijl is goed als altijd, maar normaal zijn haar boeken inspirerend en nu gewoon totaal niets zeggend. Het gebeurt niets in het verhaal.

This wasn’t a great intro into Chimamanda’s writing for me. But based on the other reviews it is an anomaly so I’ll try other works of her. I think this story is based on the curiosity of why Melania or any woman would want to be with a man like Trump and how their relationship would work. But I thought the story was rather amateurish and random. Maybe it is because the story is too short for the things she wants to tell. I did think Chimamanda portrayed some parts of narcissism well and these observations are well written. Like this part:‘Once, in the early years, before she fully understood him, she had asked what his favorite flowers were. “I use the best florists in the city, they’re terrific,” he replied, and she realized that taste, for him, was something to be determined by somebody else, and then flaunted.’And also that part about complimenting Melania was not for her but for himself.

Very funny.
