Spiritualiteit
The author is the founder and director of Red Alders Rewilding, a group dedicated to rediscovering and sharing endangered skills, fostering sane, sustainable ways of living, and connecting people to their land bases. The author has spent the past 10 years learning earth skills: foraging, hunting, cultivating, scavenging and scrounging in the backwoods of Vancouver Island. Without elders or an intact culture to teach deep subsistence and survival skills, much of what Miles had learned is self-taught through trial and error, allowing him to offer the reader a unique perspective on the relationship between humans the rest of the world. Unlearn, Rewild addresses the need for humans to build self-reliant, indigenous communities, step beyond cultural constraints and conditioning to live healthy, sane and sustainable lives. Unlearn, Rewild contains many traditional and primitive skills that are not readily available in print elsewhere. The book contributes to the discussion on sustainability and civilization in a unique way, appealing to the growing number of people looking to become radically self-reliant. The book is ultimately positive and hopeful; nearly two thirds of offers skills that can readily be incorporated into our everyday lives and that can empower us and help us connect more directly
