Skemmtileg saga fyrir þá sem eru hrifnir af vísindaskáldskap. Það eru sterkar og flottar kvenkyns hetjur í bókinni (þótt hvergi sé hægt að lesa um það í bókarlýsingum eða umsögnum 🙄🙄🙄🙄)

Fantasy & SciFi
From the author of the thrilling science-fiction epic Children of Time, winner of the prestigious Arthur C. Clarke Award. Shards of Earth is the first high-octane, far-future space adventure in Adrian Tchaikovsky' Final Architecture trilogy.
'One of the most interesting and accomplished writers in speculative fiction' – Christopher Paolini
The war is over. Its heroes forgotten. Until one chance discovery . . .
Idris has neither aged nor slept since they remade his mind in the war. And one of humanity’s heroes now scrapes by on a freelance salvage vessel, to avoid the attention of greater powers.
Eighty years ago, Earth was destroyed by an alien enemy. Many escaped, but millions more died. So mankind created enhanced humans such as Idris – who could communicate mind-to-mind with our aggressors. Then these ‘Architects’ simply disappeared and Idris and his kind became obsolete.
Now, Idris and his crew have something strange, abandoned in space. It’s clearly the work of the Architects – but are they really returning? And if so, why? Hunted by gangsters, cults and governments, Idris and his crew race across the galaxy as they search for answers. For they now possess something of incalculable value, and many would kill to obtain it.
Praise for Adrian Tchaikovsky:
'If Homer had written space opera . . . Enthralling, epic, immersive and hugely intelligent.' – Stephen Baxter on Shards of Earth
'He writes incredibly enjoyable sci-fi, full of life and ideas' – Patrick Ness ‘Brilliant science fiction’ – James McAvoy on Children of Time

A bit of a roller coaster of things happening, a bit too all over the place for my taste. But I liked the world building and got quite invested in the characters. Excellent narrator.

Bra författare, kass story, rörig och spretig.... lyssnad till 50% .. och gav upp. Något som har skett typ 2-3 ggr ... säger en del.

Fantastic book. Cool new scifi concepts I haven't seen before, thrilling action, a world that feels thought out, characters to be heavily invested in.

The story, worldbuilding and characters are some of the strongest points. The intricate web of coexistence in the richly populated space is fascinating, the concept of Architects is both awe-inspiring and terrifying. I am grateful to the author for the glossary and history overview at the back of the book, it helped me understand what's going on without disrupting the immersion. The language was challenging (for me it was something between a merit and fault 😅). I admire the author's imagination that created all those fantastical species! I couldn't even imagine them when they were described for me in detail (it's not the author's fault, by any means, I can barely conjure up clear images of regular humans, let alone fancy crab-like ailiens). I loved the crew, Idris and Solace. I liked the pace wasn't too fast, it kept me engaged while allowing me to catch up with the world.
