New York Subways and Stations, 1970-1990

Loaded with hundreds of large, full-bleed images, this second edition expands the work's visual documentation of two key decades in New York's subway train and station history. See images of the MTA system from the 1970s through the 1990s, a period that saw an unprecedented meteoric rise in global fame for a transit system. Captured here are the graffiti cars, grit, danger, and intrigue that defined the system's attitude and reputation.

Tod Lange, artist, subway archivist, and native New Yorker, presents more than 200 images of his favorite train lines, graffiti-painted cars, stations, subway yards, and work equipment that defined one of New York's bygone eras. It may have been a scary and dangerous place to some, but it was home to millions.

Rail fans and those hankering for a memento of this period in New York City's history will appreciate this rare look at trains that have since been turned into scrap metal or sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
