Concerning Children

"Concerning Children" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is a thought-provoking exploration of the social and psychological dimensions of childhood and parenthood. In this collection of essays and lectures, Gilman challenges conventional wisdom and offers insightful critiques of prevailing attitudes towards children and their upbringing.

Drawing on her experiences as a mother and a feminist thinker, Gilman examines various aspects of child-rearing, education, and the role of society in shaping the lives of children. She argues for a more enlightened approach to childhood that prioritizes the needs and development of the child over outdated notions of discipline and obedience.

Gilman's keen observations and progressive ideas shed light on the ways in which societal norms and expectations can impact the well-being of children, as well as the broader implications for gender equality and social justice.

Through her lucid prose and impassioned advocacy, Gilman challenges readers to rethink their assumptions about childhood and to consider the profound influence of upbringing on the future of society. "Concerning Children" remains a timeless work that continues to inspire reflection and debate on the nature of childhood and the responsibilities of parenthood in the modern world.
