Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a multifaceted American entertainer, born May 2, 1972, who has achieved success as an actor, professional wrestler, and businessman. Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, was initially reluctant to use the ring name "Rocky Maivia," which combined his father's and grandfather's names, but was convinced by Vince McMahon and Jim Ross. Although he is of both Black Nova Scotian and Samoan heritage, Johnson identifies as both equally and is proud of both. His father, Rocky Johnson, was a Black Nova Scotian with some Irish ancestry, and his mother is Samoan.
