In Boyfriend Material, Luc and Oliver met, pretended to fall in love, fell in love for real, dealt with heartbreak and disappointment and family and friends...and somehow figured out a way to make it work. Now it seems like everyone around them is getting married, and Luc's feeling the social pressure to propose. But it'll take more than four weddings, a funeral, and a bowl full of special curry to get these two from I don't know what I'm doing to I do. Good thing Oliver is such perfect Husband Material.

First of all: Joe Jameson is doing a fantastic job, even though, overall, the story arc doesn't make it especially easy for him. With Luke being more mature and much more collected than in the previous book, a lot of the fun simply vanishes. At times, the story is more about Oliver's development, and that doesn't help to lift the mood, what with him being rather a gloomy character in general without even the slightest hint of comic relief. There's loads of banter between Luke and his colleagues, but it feels mostly like a desperate page filling measure. All in all, the story feels much more laboriously constructed than the previous book, lacking most of the flow of its predecessor.Listening to the book surely felt a lot like a reunion with old pals - only to realise that they've grown older and, frankly, rather dull.Still, there aren't many books out there celebrating queer life and at the same time daring to question certain beliefs and concepts.

I really love both this book and boyfriend material. BUT, I’m starting to wonder how Alexis Hall thought of the last name LETTUCE

I’m so disappointed in this book. It started off so good, like four star good. Then it just went downhill in the end until I now feel like giving it two stars. I liked this book a lot in the beginning because then there was a good storyline and I loved the humor. London Calling series is one of the few books that make me really laugh and I really wanted to like this book for that, but no. The more I read the worse it got. I have no problem with some fighting and drama between two lovers but this was to much to be able to enjoy, and they just fought about pointless things. Like how much an it really matter if one like rainbow balloons and the other doesn’t?If you feel like you have time to read a book that end at the same place it began then sure go ahead and read this one, but if you are like me and have a lot of other books that you would rather have read then you should probably skip this one.

Book 2. Sadly this did not at all live up to my very high expectations as the follow up of Boyfriend material, which is an exquisite and hilarious book. This book could have been 2 hours instead of many more. There are a few funny scenes reminiscent of the first book, but then mostly boring filler material.

Så mysigt att vara i Lucs och Olivers värld. Humorn påminner lite om PG Woodhouse.

I really liked this book. Sure, the first one is better and a great start to the tale, but i enjoyed getting to know them as a couple. I particularly enjoyed getting to know Oliver more. I do however think the ending was abysmal, which lowered the score.

First of all, I love Joe Jameson and the way he reads, he gets five stars from me. But the book? I was disappointed and I'm honestly quite hard to disappoint when it comes to queer love stories. Usually just a happy ending, likeable enough characters and a writing that doesn't suck could warrant three stars from me so yeah, I'm not easily disappointed. I loved boyfriend material and I really wanted to root for Luc and Oliver but I found myself not being as invested as I wanted to. They say "show, don't tell" but sadly the author didn't show us, we were told "they loved each other" but to me it didn't show. If the ending had been less anticlimactic it might have gotten another star because I did still enjoy the humorous parts of it but no, the ending was too anticlimactic and left me with just disappointment despite the happy ending.
