Kane's a loner. In a galaxy where it's everyone for themselves, trust is a luxury he doesn't want to risk. Sign up for a job, do the work, then move on. It's a system that's kept him alive this long.

The location isn't important. The orbital known as Kotwo is a tin can in the void, the same as so many others. There's a power struggle, but Kane knows how to get through that — ignore the politics, do the job, keep your head down.

But things are never that simple. There's something off about their ship, Seraph. Kane's access goes further than it should, and the ship gives no reasons. And the deeper he gets into the job and the orbital's problems, the fewer exits remain open to him.

Kane's not going to be a martyr for this job. But if he doesn't do something, he's never leaving Kotwo.
