#1 The White House on Shrub Hollow Road was bugged by the FBI in the early 1960s because it was owned by John Sonny Franzese, the notorious Mafia up-and-comer. Sonny was made at the age of fourteen, and enforced his discipline with a bloodlust that terrified even the toughest of gangsters.

#2 By the 1960s, Sonny was at the peak of his power. He had two separate phone lines installed at his house and still kept his phone conversations short and vague. He never discussed business with a woman.

#3 Sonny and his wife, Tina, were one of the most glamorous couples in New York City. They had control over gambling, extortion, and loan shark rackets throughout Brooklyn, Queens, and much of Long Island.

#4 The Witness Security Program, which became a critical tool to keep witnesses who testified against organized crime and other violent criminals out of harm’s way, would come back to haunt Sonny years later in a way he never could have imagined.
