Oliver Sacks
Oliver Sacks föddes i London, England. Hans mor var en av de första kvinnliga kirurgerna i England och hans far psykolog. Han kom att dela sina föräldrars intresse för medicin och tog en BA i psykologi och biologi i London 1954. Efter några kortare vistelser i USA flyttade Oliver Sacks för gott till New York 1966.
Sacks skrev regelbundet i New York Review of Books, New Yorker och ett flertal medicinska tidskrifter. Han var författare till elva böcker varav flertalet utkommit på svenska, bland andra En antropolog på mars, De färgblindas ö, Mannen som förväxlade sin hustru med en hatt och Den enarmade pianisten.
Oliver Sacks (1933-2015) var läkare och författare till flera populärvetenskapliga böcker. Han bodde i New York där han var professor i klinisk neurologi och psykiatri vid Columbia University.
