Surviving Judgement Day is an inspiring memoir about Qaali Schmidt-Sørensen and her upbringing in Somalia. It is a story of growing up in the turmoil of civil war.

Qaali and her family flee in all directions as the war breaks out, and she quickly learns about the upheaval that follows--the splitting up of families, poverty, death and destruction. Qaali moves to Kenya and then to Denmark where she slowly creates a life for herself as a refugee.
