The Midwich Cuckoos

Midwich is a village of traditional English charm, where the greatest excitement is a faulty television. But on a tranquil evening, a sudden, unexplained event puts everyone into a deep, deathlike sleep. When they wake, the perimeter is guarded by soldiers, and the women are inexplicably pregnant. Nine months later, the sons and daughters of Midwich are born — flawless, golden-eyed, and unnaturally synchronized.

These Children share a single mind, a power that grows stronger every day. They can force compliance, erase memory, and kill with a thought. As their control over the village tightens, the adults must decide: are these beings humanity’s successors, or its destroyers? The Midwich cuckoos are taking over the nest, and the world may be next.
