The Comforter

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. The Comforter is a classic Christian sermon by C. H. Spurgeon, preached from the words of Jesus in John 14:26 concerning the coming of the Holy Spirit. Spurgeon explores the profound promise that Christ would not leave His people comfortless. Though Jesus would depart, another Comforter would come—the Holy Ghost, who would teach, guide, convict, strengthen, and comfort the people of God. Beginning with the meaning of the word “Comforter,” Spurgeon considers the Holy Spirit as Teacher, Advocate, and Comforter. He explains how the Spirit opens the Scriptures to the believer, pleads the cause of truth through God’s servants, works upon the conscience, convinces of sin and righteousness, and brings the promises of Christ to the heart. Spurgeon then describes the Holy Spirit as a loving, faithful, unwearied, wise, safe, active, successful, and ever-present Comforter. His message speaks directly to those facing sorrow, doubt, suffering, sin, and spiritual distress. Yet this sermon is not merely a message of consolation. Spurgeon gives a solemn warning against false comfort and reminds his hearers that the Holy Spirit is a convincer before He is a Comforter. True gospel comfort cannot be separated from repentance, holiness, and faith in Jesus Christ. With its powerful preaching, vivid imagery, biblical depth, and earnest call to self-examination, The Comforter remains a searching and encouraging message about the Holy Spirit and the abiding presence of God with His people.
