Anne of Green Gables

The tale of the lively and imaginative Anne has captivated generations of readers, transporting them to the quaint setting of Green Gables, an old-fashioned farmstead outside Avonlea in Canada. Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert are two aging unmarried siblings who have decided to adopt a boy to assist them with the work on the farm. It is not at all what they had in mind, but before they can reconsider, Anne has won their hearts. Anne of Green Gables is the first book in the series about Anne of Green Gables.

L. M. MONTGOMERY [1874-1942] was a Canadian author. She grew up with her grandparents in Cavendish and began writing at an early age. In 1908, her debut novel, Anne of Green Gables, was published, marking the first installment in what would become one of the most beloved children’s and young adult book series ever. The book has been translated into around 36 languages and sold over 50 million copies.
