The author goes to multiple fields of research science, as he explores the impact of bacteria and on evolution of life. One of which was startling to me - that we evolved from/ with bacterias. Eg one of the main building blocks of living beings - the mitochondria, actually was/ is a bacteria that got symbiotically intertwined. There is lots of bacteria that is now genetically encoded or co-living in cells, organs, etc.You also get a new look on symbiosis (meaning living together, which not always can be beneficial for both), germs, antibiotics, probiotics, pathogens, etc. You will learn that scientists try to use bacteria to fight diseases in the outside world (by genetically “loading” mosquitoes with the bacteria wolbachia, it reduces the mosquitoes' ability to transmit viruses like dengue, Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever) or inside of us.
