“I cannot discuss it over the phone. you have to be here in person.”

“You mean at home?”

“Yes. At home.”

“Okay. I would soon be on my way then.”

“Okay. Try to come quickly.”

“Sure, sure. I will be there.”

“Good.”

“By the way, what about the lingerie?”

“What about it?”

“I wanted to know what size to get for you.”

“Chris, why not just leave that for now?”

“I should leave it? But I am holding it right here. Why should I leave it?”

“When you come you will understand.”

“But, Melissa.”

“Please, just leave it and come home. Now is not the time for such things.”

“Now is not the time for such things? What is going on, Melissa?”

“Just come home, Chris. Can you do that? Can you just come home?”

“Sure, I can do that, darling. But this lingerie. If I leave it here, I am sure that someone else is going to see it and snap it up. Can’t I at least pick it for you?”

There was a pause from her end. While he waited for her to respond, he wondered what she might be thinking. He found it hard to believe that his wife was actually contemplating whether or not to agree to his plan. Eventually, she replied. “Okay. You can buy it then.”

He clapped his hands together in glee. “Yes. I knew it. Darling, you are going to love it so much.”

“What else are you going to buy?”

“What else? How?”

“Is it just that lingerie you want to pick for me?”

“Well, I wasn’t thinking of anything else. Or do you have something else in mind?”
