Fighting the Phantom Army

South Africa, 1901. The Boer War has entered a new phase, fought fought not by great armies but by swift, deadly commandos. Captain Andrew Baird faces a war of endless skirmishes, scorched earth, and an enemy he understands all too well.

Ordered to hunt down the elusive Van Collier Commando, Andrew finds himself pitted against Jacoba du Toit, a fierce fighter with a burning vendetta against the British, and her veteran band of guerrillas. Baird's new command, the Natal Dragoons, is still untested and far from what he needs for the job.

Andrew pushes his men through harsh training and even harsher battles, but victory will require outwitting an enemy who knows the land and tactics better than anyone.

Courage is tested and alliances shift with the wind in FIGHTING THE PHANTOM ARMY, the sixth book in the Soldier's Son series by Malcolm Archibald.
