Mahabharata is often deemed the fifth Veda, which is equally venerable as the four Vedas. The critical edition calls it "an inexhaustible mine for investigating religion, mythology, philosophy, law, customs, political and social institutions of ancient India." However, the geography described in the epic is a topic, which often searched for, but rarely discussed.
