Come September

Ryan Jackson is a scrappy teenage wrestler growing up in a poor Appalachian town. Kip Reynolds is a talented polo player from an ultra-wealthy family in the tony Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills. When Ryan’s family moves north, searching for a better life, their pathsintersect at an exclusive equestrian club, and an unlikely friendship is formed.

Sharp, stunning, and born of two cultures, Claudia Kinzler wins the admiration of both young men and takes center stage in their lives. But her world is destroyed on September 11, 2001, when her father is killed in the attacks.

What follows is a sprawling, deeply human journey through grief and rage, addiction and healing, and the struggle to attain retribution for unfathomable acts of cruelty. Over the course of seventeen years, friendships fracture and rekindle in the face of lies, betrayals, and misunderstandings. From the stables of Bloomfield Hills to a CIA station in Baghdad, corruption on the docks of Hong Kong, and the underworld of South American drug cartels, Come September is a coming-of-age story told through the lens of love, loss, and the long shadow of terror.

With unforgettable characters and emotionally charged storytelling, this novel explores what binds us and what breaks us and how forgiveness can be the key to reconciling our past and building a new life.
