Expert trapper and portal drifter Leona is determined to avenge her sister's murder, but every time she gets close to discovering the identities of the culprits, the trail runs cold. Although she's terribly mismatched with her new partner, Everett, the quiet shapeshifter soon begins to earn her trust. Leona starts craving his companionship as she struggles to overcome her grief.

Everett just wants to get paid. After several failed attempts to capture outlaws, he accepts a secret job. His mission is to destroy the evidence surrounding the death of his partner's sister. But the deception wears on him as he grows closer to Leona. When a vengeful foe from Everett's past targets Leona, he realizes just how deeply he cares for her.
