Check-Out Time

As Cecily Sinclair prepares for the Pennyfoot’s lavish Midsummer Ball, one of her aristocratic guests checks out in a most alarming fashion. After climbing onto the balcony of his top-floor room, the nobleman performs a peculiar dance along the railing—then plunges to the pavement below.

The downstairs staff dismiss his death as the final act of a man who had taken leave of his senses. Cecily, however, is certain he was murdered.

Behind the Pennyfoot’s elegant doors, Edwardian aristocrats conduct secret affairs, gamble in hidden card rooms, and rely on the discreet staff to keep their indiscretions out of the newspapers. With Scotland Yard eager for an excuse to close her notorious seaside hotel, Cecily must identify the killer without exposing the secrets of her illustrious guests.

And with the Midsummer Ball fast approaching, she must act quickly—before the murderer claims another victim.

A captivating British historical mystery filled with high-society intrigue, servant-hall gossip, seaside secrets, and classic country-house crime.
