Make Yourselves Gods: Mormons and the Unfinished Business of American Secularism

From the perspective of Protestant America, nineteenth-century Mormons were the victims of a peculiar zealotry, a population deranged––socially, sexually, even racially––by the extravagances of belief they called "religion."
