Summary of Sebastian Junger's The Perfect Storm

#1 Bobby Shatford, a swordfisherman, had flax-brown hair and hollow cheeks. He was due on a boat trip to the Grand Banks in a few hours, returning with five thousand dollars in his pocket.

#2 The Crow’s Nest is a bar in Gloucester, Massachusetts, that is famous for its big barroom window. It is a block-long faux-Tudor construction across from the J. B. Wright Fish Company and Rose Marine.

#3 Chris Cotter, who had been friends with Mary Anne Shatford, one day saw the Crow’s Nest and was instantly drawn in. It was a fine place: people bought drinks for each other like they said hello and Ethel cooked up a big pot of fish chowder.

#4 Bobby was separated from his wife, and he wanted to marry Chris. He proposed to her again in front of Ethel, and when they were alone, he told her that he had a site on the Andrea Gail if he wanted it.
