Washington Square

Washington Square, written by Henry James and published in 1880, is a poignant exploration of love, family dynamics, and societal expectations set in mid-19th-century New York City. Catherine's life is heavily influenced by her father's disapproval. In an attempt to separate them, he takes Catherine on an extended trip to Europe, hoping she will forget Morris.
