Witch Mayor

According to local legend, Ravens Pass City Hall was built on top of a cellar with a witch trapped inside—a cruel sorceress who once threatened to destroy the town. Gus Jerome thinks this is the dumbest story he ever heard, no matter what his friend Hank says. Sure city hall is spooky, but any building that had been closed for hundreds of years would be. Then Gus and Hank's sixth grade class are invited to city hall for a field trip to tour the historic building. Once inside, Hank dares Gus to sneak to the cellar and find the witch with him. Of course, Gus goes—after all, the story is completely ridiculous. Anyone with any sense knows that! But as Gus and Hank make their way down to the creepy basement, they never expect to find themselves face to face with one of Ravens Pass's deepest, darkest secrets.
