The Briars Resort

The Château Frontenac offers splendid views of the river and being inside feels like stepping back in time. Le Château Frontenac

In the late 1800's, the community of Commanda sprang up as a way station along the Old Nipissing Road, one of the last routes built to entice immigrants to Ontario's near north. In 1885 by James and Elizabeth Arthurs, built a store strategically located on the Rosseau-Nipissing Road. During the boom years of settlement in the Southern Canadian Shield, the Commanda General Store served as an important supply centre for the pioneer lumbermen and farmers of the region . 

Since then it changed hands many times but through it all there have been claims that there are a few ghosts lingering on the premises. Among them is James Arthurs.

Commanda Museum

Nestled along the Rideau Canal between the Chateau Laurier and Parliament Hill is another haunted hotbed, the Bytown Museum. First constructed in 1827, the building that houses the museum is the oldest remaining stone building in Ottawa.

One of the more prominent reported ghosts in the building is former supply manager Duncan McNab, who worked during the construction of the canal. Staff and visitors have reported doors shaking almost off their hinges, porcelain dolls that cry and footsteps up and down the stairs from the first floor to the second.

He is just one of many who continue to reside in the museum.

Bytown Museum

Vernon's historic Towne Theatre is said to be the most haunted building in the city with tales of paranormal happenings dating back decades.

Built in 1929, the Towne started out as a ballroom before becoming a theatre in 1938.

Since then, there have been tales of strange happenings at the downtown theatre.

Ghosts of The Vernon Towne Theatre

Strathcona County Museum and Archives is located in the first fire hall of the County, erected in 1959. The RCMP moved in eight years later and shared the building until 1975 .

The museum and exhibits opened in 1997, and by 2001 there were reported sightings of a 'friendly', but prankster ghost. Many believe it's the spirit of a former RCMP guard and a prisoner that linger from beyond.

The Ghosts of Strathcona Museum

Located in Drumheller Alberta, The Johnston House was initially built in 1885 by Dr. Robert Johnson and was occupied by the family. 

In 1935, at 45, Dr. Johnson met his untimely demise when a hunting rifle discharged while packing it for a hunting trip. However, his presence and that of his daughter, who passed a few years after her father’s death, can be felt throughout today’s home.

The Johnston House

This working village in the north end of Toronto is typical of those established in south central Ontario between the 1790s and the 1860s. 

The Village at Black Creek consists of over forty 19th century buildings, and is operated by historical interpreters and craftspeople housed in the restored buildings who are often face to face with paranormal activity.

Ghosts of Mackenzie House

Located on the south side of The Narrows in St. John's harbour. It is a spot where many go to whale watch and view icebergs.

Beneath the current lighthouse, you will find the remains of 
Fort Amherst, a WWII battery complex that consists of many rooms, stairways, old artillery guns, and home to many ghosts.

The Ghosts of Fort Amherst

On Wednesday, August 1, 1906 George Stanley was hanged. He was the last man executed at the Windsor County Jail.

From that day on…. the town was never the same because while justice may have d been served many believe that Freeman Harvey, the man George Stanley so callously killed is not at rest.

Judge Charles Edgar DeWolf, who lived in the area, reported seeing the apparition of a headless man in his basement window.

He knew that parts of Harvey’s corpse had been found hidden under a pile of potatoes, and the judge was sure that he had seen Harvey’s ghost.

Then, other strange things began to happen.

This is the story of Headless Harvey.
