Fantasy & SciFi
The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake is the runaway TikTok must-listen fantasy novel of the year, read by a full cast of narrators. If you loved Ninth House and A Deadly Education, you’ll love this.
Secrets. Betrayal. Seduction. Welcome to the Alexandrian Society.
When the world’s best magicians are offered an extraordinary opportunity, saying yes is easy. Each could join the secretive Alexandrian Society, whose custodians guard lost knowledge from ancient civilizations. Their members enjoy a lifetime of power and prestige. Yet each decade, only six practitioners are invited – to fill five places.
Contenders Libby Rhodes and Nico de Varona are inseparable enemies, cosmologists who can control matter with their minds. Parisa Kamali is a telepath, who sees the mind’s deepest secrets. Reina Mori is a naturalist who can perceive and understand the flow of life itself. And Callum Nova is an empath, who can manipulate the desires of others. Finally there’s Tristan Caine, whose powers mystify even himself.
Following recruitment by the mysterious Atlas Blakely, they travel to the Society’s London headquarters. Here, each must study and innovate within esoteric subject areas. And if they can prove themselves, over the course of a year, they’ll survive. Most of them.
The story continues in The Atlas Paradox, the heart-stopping sequel.

What do you get when you put six power-hungry individuals in a society? One of them uses her beauty to seduce everyone she meet, while the others are busy with plotting how to kill each other. Keep in your mind that knowledge is everything even if you have to pay a high price for it...The storyline of Atlas Six is very dialogue focused which can be interesting at some specific points. One of the main things that I love so much about reading is that books create the ability to travel to imaginary places. In this the Atlas Six didn't succeed in my point of view because I missed information about the main location where everything took place. The magic system felt too complex to keep track of everything that was happening. Sometimes I felt like a chapter started in the middle of a scene without introducing it beforehand. Perhaps an editor could have fixed this. I didn't felt attached to the characters. This was mainly because of the many characters perspectives.

I thought the narrator's did a good job :). The story itself was actually quite surprising. Sometimes a little slow, but not boring. I'm looking forward to the sequel. ☺️

Stopped half way through. The long monologues just put me to sleep. Story idea was interesting, probably would have been nicer if something would happen every now and then.

"The Atlas Six" is a mesmerizing, almost magical read. It's a captivating blend of fantasy and intrigue. While there were a few pacing hiccups, it's easily a four-star experience.
