When brilliant, highly disciplined young danseur Jule Parry leaves England to audition in New York, it's expected he'll join the most prestigious company around. Instead, he finds himself a member of a young, nontraditional company that ruffles the feathers of the ballet establishment.

Jule is sheltered and naïve, and despite his excellent training, the sudden changes in his life throw him off balance. The establishment thinks his company's bold new ballet is "vulgar," there are problems with funding, and he and his coworkers seem to come from different worlds.

However, Jule's professional turmoil is nothing compared to the confusion caused by the romantic attention of handsome premier danseur Lucas Madding. With Lucas's help, Jule is eager to find his place in this strange new world, but he's struggling.
