Movie Nightcap: The Reserve Collection, Vol. 2

Movie Nightcap continues its series of exclusive episodes known as the Reserve Collection. In this high octane follow-up, hosts Jill Tighe, Abe Saffer, and Nate Fisher bring you more antics, more beer, and of course, more movies. For Volume 2, the hosts further explore the world of beer and movies and sit down with artists from both industries. Episode 1: Beer Tasting and Movie Topics, Round 2 Beer master Josh Greenberg returns as guest host to walk Jill, Abe, and Nate through another series of specialty brews. The gang cover a wide range of samplings from fruity and light flavored ales, to some darker stouts and even run into some possible contamination. Between samples the hosts discuss a variety of movie topics such as: Which movie villains had a point? What movie have you walked out of? What is your all-time most quotable movie?

Episode 2: Movie Universes The hosts tackle one of the latest trends in blockbuster filmmaking and discuss how connected cinematic universes are impacting the feature film landscape. The group discusses the history of cinematic universes and discuss a few legacy examples while also identifying the ever-blurring line between sequels, spin-offs and interconnected narratives in this modern, franchise-driven environment. ***Abe mentions Marvel at least 100 times.

Episode 3: The Art of Brewing and Drinking Scenes with Frank Hood of 3 Stars Brewing Master brewer Frank Hood joins the podcast for a special episode. Frank gives a quick overview of the history of 3 Stars Brewing and walks the hosts through a few samples of their offerings. The episode then becomes a Movie Nightcap version of How Stuff Gets Made as Frank walks us through the brewing process and gives some tips and tricks to home brewing (and baking) while we try some of his own brews. We cap off the evening with a few of our favorite drinking scenes in movies.

Episode 4: The Art of Voice Acting with Cyrus Nemati Nate is joined by friend and collaborator, Cyrus Nemati. Cyrus is a voice actor based in San Francisco whose voice can be heard in video games, audio dramas, commercials, and products. Cyrus shares his story of how he got into voice acting and why it was such a personal decision for him. Cyrus and Nate then analyze the artistry and history of vocal performance and try to distill what makes this medium of expression so special. The hosts also name a few of their favorite vocal artists and Cyrus peppers in a few impressions.

Episode 5: Gun to Your Head, Round 2 Jill, Abe, and Nate engage in a Sophie’s choice of films as they must narrow down the field and have a random movie selected for them to immediately watch and podcast.
