At dawn on September 22, 1711, more than fivehundred Tuscarora, Core, Neuse, Pamlico, Weetock, Machapunga, and Bear RiverIndian warriors swept down on the unsuspecting European settlers living alongthe Neuse and Pamlico Rivers of North Carolina.
