The Valkyries: An Encounter with Angels

Audiobook narrated by Sean Runnette.

"A story that exists in that magical space where belief becomes truth, where metaphor becomes experience" — Pen with Paper A magical true story about forgiving our past and believing in our future — from Paulo Coelho, the internationally bestselling author of The Alchemist.

The enchanting true story of The Valkyries begins in Rio de Janeiro, when Coelho hands his mysterious spiritual teacher J. the only copy of his manuscript of The Alchemist. Haunted by a devastating curse, he confesses: "I've seen my dreams fall apart just when I seemed about to achieve them." J.'s response is a challenge: find and speak with your guardian angel. "The curse can be broken — if you complete the task."

So Paulo and his wife Cristina drop everything and drive into the Mojave Desert for forty days. What they find there is stranger than either expected: a band of women who ride motorcycles through the desert, call themselves the Valkyries, and claim to speak with God. Their fierce leader tells Coelho that reaching his angel will require breaking a pact, accepting forgiveness, and making a bet. All three will cost him something.

A masterful blend of exotic landscape, dramatic adventure, and the magical storytelling for which Coelho is renowned — The Valkyries is one of his most intimate and memorable works.
