Bells Broussard thought he had it made when his superpowers manifested early. Being a shapeshifter is awesome. He can change his hair whenever he wants, and if putting on a binder for the day is too much, he's got it covered. But that was before he became the country's most-wanted villain.
After discovering a massive cover-up by the Heroes' League of Heroes, Bells and his friends Jess, Emma, and Abby set off on a secret mission to find the Resistance. Meanwhile, power-hungry former hero Captain Orion is on the loose with a dangerous serum that renders meta-humans powerless, and a new militarized robotic threat emerges. Everyone is in danger. Between college applications and crushing on his best friend, will Bells have time to take down a corrupt government?
Sometimes, to do a hero's job, you need to be a villain.

As a sequel to "Not Your Sidekick" (which was a stunning and fun read) it falters at times with keeping a lazor-proof plot, but it is no less a great read! A lot of casual diversity I'm overjoyed to see! We follow the narrator Bells, a trans superhero fighting a corrupt government with his friends, both the ones we got to know from the previous book, but some new ones! Bells' story feels kind of separated from the action sometimes, considering he himself doesn't feel like the center of the story but "a fifth wheel" and he struggles with that plus also, you know, corruption. And a very greedy and dangerous former hero hunting them, so there's that. But the character Bells is also so fun with dialogue, witty and confident but also introspective and the ending of this book and his arc was really good! Plus, there is asexual/aromantic representation in here, a main character literally saying "I think I might be asexual". It's very rare to see, and I loved that.
