Chesterton writes elegant mysteries which somehow always hinges on religion. The legacy of Chesterton is recognisable in later authors, they remind me strongly of Agatha Christie, who’s work frequently alluded to Christianity, and whose Miss Marple is clearly related to Chesterton’s vapid seeming but in reality very shrewd priest. However, the mysteries aren’t very well plotted, and Chesterton lacks the ineffable warmth of later writer. Decently read.
