புதுமைப்பித்தன் சிறுகதைகள் / Pudumaipithan Sirukkathaigal

சிறுகதை உலகில் முடிசூடா மன்னன் என்று அறியப்படுபவர். இந்த நூற்றாண்டின் முதல் பாதியில் நாற்பத்திரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் வாழ்ந்து தமிழ்ப் புனை கதை மரபில் பாய்ச்சல்கள் நிகழ்த்திக் காட்டியவர். புதிது புதிதாகப் பல உத்திகளைக் கையாண்டவர். பிற இலக்கியங்களைத் தமிழுக்குக் கொண்டு வந்தவர். தமிழில் சிறுகதை அறிமுகமாகித் “தமிழ்ச்சிறுகதை” என தனித்து வகைமைப்படித்தி நோக்குவதற்கான வளங்களைக் கொடுத்தவர் புதுமைப்பித்தன்.

Pudhumaipithan is one of the most influential and revolutionary writers of Tamil fiction. His writings brought him an image of a maverick. The subjects that he took and the characters he chose to convey them was completely new to Tamil fiction. His works were characterized by bold criticisms of social anomalies, modern outlook and progressive thinking.
