The constellation Maaren has vanished from the sky. Twelve great birds, the fabled Flight of Maar, are devouring the world. The only way to stop them is in the Forbidden City of the Yester.

The journey is long and fraught with perils, with different countries being as completely different worlds.

The Flight of Maar is their constant companion.
