#1 The conventional wisdom that you should go to college immediately after high school is flawed. It is impossible to apply a universal life plan to the millions of unique American individuals, and college is just plain wrong and by default screws up the remaining advice.

#2 The truth is that most teenagers are not prepared to make major life decisions, such as what they want to do after high school, where they want to live, and who they are. They are too young to know what they want and too preoccupied with college to figure it out.

#3 The price we all pay for following the wrong path is time and money. You are only young once, and you should spend your time and energy pursuing life’s greatest joys, not buried in books for prerequisite classes you’ll never use.

#4 The price tag of a college degree is the least of your problems. The consequential student debts that are incurred paying for college haunt and cripple college graduates well into their 30’s, sometimes their 40’s.
