Khushiram, a poor Brahmin lives with his wife and 2 children in a village in India. One year famine strikes the village and all the crop and cattle is destroyed. Tired of waiting for rain and better days, Khushiram ventures on a journey to find food and good fortune. On his journey he finds a well in which a Lion, A Monkey, A Snake and a Man are trapped. Khushiram saves all of them by pulling them out of the well. All the animals warn Khushiram against pulling Chorchand, the goldsmith out of the well.
