Manchester Slingback

Manchester’s Bowie Boys confront a dark secret Fifteen years ago Jake Powell was hustling on the fringes of Manchester’s gay Village: running wild with a crowd of rentboys, purse-snatchers and disco trash; sleeping with anyone and everything. Now he’s the boss of a smart West End casino. But, inside, he’s living a life fogged by regret.

When Detective Inspector Davey Green takes a sudden and unexpected interest in his past, Jake is forced to confront the dirty secrets that led to the murder of his best friend…

A nail-biting yet disturbingly convincing thriller, Manchester Slingback was awarded the CWA Silver Dagger for Fiction and consolidated Nicholas Blincoe’s reputation as a major British talent. Praise for Nicholas Blincoe ‘One of the best crime stories I’ve read in years’ The Guardian

‘A solid talent that’s here to stay… crackles with energy, wit and insight’ Val McDermid

‘He writes with vicious beauty’ The Times
