Developed for the treatment of borderline personality disorder, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) has been shown to be effective as a treatment for a variety of other mental health problems, particularly those marked by overwhelming emotions. Research shows that DBT can improve the ability to manage depression without losing control and behaving destructively.
