At ten years old, young Dave Schipper sits down at the dinner table unaware that his life is about to change dramatically. His father has news: The family is moving to Switzerland. Due to Mr. Schipper’s work, Dave and his parents must now set off on a journey abroad, bringing them to the breathtaking snow-capped Alps and an inevitable culture shock. This memoir chronicles Dave’s incredible coming-of-age adventures in Switzerland and across Europe, leading up to the family’s next move to Japan. Through his travels, Dave gains a thoughtful appreciation of different customs. A Glimpse into My Enormity shares the adventures he experienced as well as the knowledge he gained, encouraging the reader to go explore the world for themselves.

About the Author

A native of Beloit, WI, Dave Schipper had a career in

the transportation industry before retiring. He graduated from the American School in Japan. In his free time, he enjoys his gardens, golf, skiing, exploring New England, canvas painting & writing poetry. Dave currently resides in Mountainside, NJ with his wife, two children & 6 grandchildren.
