Straight-talking, driven, and committed to being the best sports agent and manager in the Pacific Northwest, Beatrix “Trixie” Cavendish works hard and doesn’t allow herself to be distracted. She’d let that happen once before and not only did it threaten her fledgling career, it also broke her heart into a million pieces.

The cause of that heartbreak? Chris Ford. While he is currently first line winger for the Seattle Whalers, Trixie remembers him as the ambitious rookie from the wrong side of the tracks who promised to love her forever. However, his career and her ambitions caused their young love to shatter. Neither Trixie nor Chris ever really recovered.

Ten years later, they’re both living in Seattle and actively avoiding each other. But an unexpected event in Chris’s life turns his world on its axis. The only person he feels he can turn to is the one woman he knows will never take his call.
