Book will be published on May 1st, 2008, the third anniversary of “A Day Without A Mexican,” the major national immigrant protests. The complex topic of immigration becomes a visceral experience for the reader through the telling of one man’s story, and his ultimate death. Congress will likely still be debating legislation on immigration. This book informs that discussion. This book picks up where Nevins' last popular book on the subject—"Operation Gatekeeper: The Rise of the Illegal Alien and the Making of the US-Mexico Boundary" (Routledge, 2002)—left off.
