Icelandic lopi sweater

This book is a version of the key results from a larger and more comprehensive study which was published in Icelandic in 2017. The study shows that many factors have influenced the evolution of the Icelandic lopi sweater which was closely linked to the nation’s social, industrial, export, design and textile history. Today the Icelandic lopi sweater is held in respect and is regarded as a valuable part of Iceland’s history and culture. Íslenska lopapeysan, uppruni, saga og hönnun (2017) - The Icelandic lopi sweater, its origins, history and design was nominated (2018) as the best non-fiction book by Hagthenkir (the Association of Non-Fiction and Educational Writers in Iceland) and also nominated by Fjöruverðlaunin (the Women´s Literature Prize in Iceland). The author, Ásdís Jóelsdóttir, is a lecturer in textile at the University of Iceland.
