Two cosmic Deities, grand architects of their own prized galaxy, have discovered that one of their creations is out of control. After the largest star in their galaxy collapses, it rebounds as a black hole that swells to consume them and their cherished creations before they can escape. Cast adrift in space and time, their souls are scattered, and they separately experience life in the denser planes. Many incarnations lead them to converge on a little place called Earth, where time and matter are thick and slow: a place where souls are plentiful, and power struggles run amok.
