Kidnapped (1886) by Robert Louis Stevenson is a travel and adventure novel, which recounts the story of a young man David Balfour. David, after the death of his parents, discovers that he is the heir of a wealthy family. But when he arrives at his family estate, his uncle Ebenezer, who has stolen his inheritance, tricks him, getting him kidnapped to be sent to America. However, as fate might have it, the ship carrying David runs into trouble and Alan Breck Stewart, a fugitive Jacobite, rescues David. Alan Breck and David become friends; and as their adventures begin, David discovers an untamed and romantic self in the company of the determined and valiant, Alan Breck.
