Despite being a Hindu, Candance’s world view resonated with me a lot. The book inspired me to text an estranged friend and tell her I missed her and was ready to put our toxic past behind us. I felt wonderful about myself! The book did not seem as Christian heavy as some might say, and if it was, I didn’t notice it. I did skip the final appendix though because it was her story of becoming a Christian and to be frank, I was not very interested in knowing about it. I loved her narration style which is heartfelt and genuine. Her message is wholesome and not at all preachy. If anything, it reconnected me with the values and morals that my parents have raised me with. It was liberating to rediscover compassion and kindness within me that I was admittedly becoming more and more a stranger to.

Some aspects of the book is good and some aspects are not. I felt she portrays that if you’re not a believer you can’t be kind or good.
