When a blackout and a computer virus sweeps the nation . . .

Margot is at home in Vermont. She hopes that skimming through old Little House on the Prairie books will help her learn enough to grow and preserve food for winter. Too bad there are no books to help her stay cool when Ronan Murphy is around.

Caleb is in Wyoming with his dad, who is probably not the best person to get Caleb safely to Vermont. But since Caleb doesn’t have a choice, he straps on a motorcycle helmet and hangs on for dear life.

Leah is in Maine at a “maximum security boarding school for the rich and deranged.” One lie leads to another and soon hiking home to Vermont on the Appalachian Trail with a strange sophomore boy may be her only option for survival.
