The world is filled with mysteries, and even in the modern age, much of the planet remains unexplored. These people feel they are privy to a hidden truth, and that the rest of the world is wrong and ignorant, but this feeling of mental superiority isn’t the only appeal in clinging to radical notions. There is also the thrill of adventure, the feeling that one is part of a dangerous minority attempting to overthrow the dominant paradigm. It is far better, some would feel, to live in a world full of mystery and hope, than a decaying, “rational” world where everything can be explained but nothing solved.
